Cedric Douglas is a street artist and designer who has created artwork around Boston for more than two decades. He is inspired by everyday life and street art subculture, and he uses his art to activate spaces and engage the public.
Douglas served as an artist-in-residence with Northeastern’s Center for the Arts in the fall of 2015, and the following spring he created a mural on the exterior wall of the Behrakis Health Sciences Center on Leon Street facing Centennial Common.
“You pick up a can of spray paint, and you enter this world that you have no control over. It’s like a genie in a bottle, and this world comes out of the can.”
—Cedric Douglas
He is the founder and creative director of The Up Truck, a mobile arts lab created to connect with underserved communities in Boston through art and creativity. In addition to creating art in the Boston area for the past 20 years, his work has been exhibited across the United States and in Colombia.
