Sneha Shrestha (aka IMAGINE)
Knowledge is Power
March 31–Aug. 21, 2018
Street artist Sneha Shrestha, known as IMAGINE in the art world, paints mindful mantras in an innovative style that blends the aesthetics of the Nepali alphabet and Sanskrit, Turkish calligraphy, and American graffiti.
Shrestha, who was born in Nepal and now lives in Boston, painted a mural at Northeastern along the concourse between Ell Hall and the Curry Student Center outside Gallery 360. The mural features vibrant reds, blues, and gold—the colors she’d see in Nepal.
“My inspiration comes from where I’m from, which is Nepal. I was born and raised there. A lot of traditions and culture shine through with the colors that I use and the words that I write.”
—Sneha Shrestha
Shrestha has shown her work in exhibitions, commissioned works, and public walls in the United States, Indonesia, Istanbul, Switzerland, and Denmark. She has worked at Boston’s Artists for Humanity, an experience that inspired her to dedicate her life to art, education and social impact. She later established Nepal’s first Children’s Art Museum to provide a space where young people can develop 21st-century skills through project-based creative experiences.
